After looking at 'norskracer98's post it got me thinking again about my next Superb. With the government and local authorities changing their view on diesel engines.

Now diesels are a lot cleaner than they were years ago but with the possibility of charges and authorities not knowing their arse from their elbow this could get confusing so I've decided to stick with petrol (gas aka gasoline to others).

Now the car comes in three petrol engine sizes 1.4TSi (current car), 1.8TSi and 3.6V6.

I'm happy with the 1.4TSi but it's the base model (options are restricted a little on the base model) and want some more toys and power, the top engine size, the 3.6V6 only comes in DSG (I've not driven an auto and don't want to either) so the only option left is the 1.8TSi. Now the SE (second up from the base) has 1.8TSi in manual, the next model up (the Elegance) has the 1.8TSi but only DSG and not in manual and the top model (the L&K) doesn't have 1.8 as an engine option.

So 1.8TSi 160ps SE manual is the winner.

So with added options of Park Assist (self parking), mats, luggage cover, 'Amundsen' radio system and Sunset Glass from the B pillar back I'm looking at GBP£24,945 (USD$41,739)

1.8TSi 160ps manual.

I'd want to get rid of the chrome around the windows for rubber or painted black and the grille body coloured.

Something like this.

What do you guys and gals think?

Also there is the Outdoor Plus which is Skodas version of Audis Allroad which looks great but only comes in diesel but does come in manual and DSG.

Blacked out bits again, looks awesome.

Kinja'd!!!

But diesel is out.

Interesting, is the 1.4 TSI 138 hp or 122? I am close to getting a MK7 Golf with the 140hp version, and wanted to see if that was the engine in your Skoda to give me a taste of what it was like.

My per-facelift is 123bhp.

It's a good engine. As I say at 20mph going uphill it can feel and sound like it's struggling slightly (Baring in mind she's 1,414Kg in weight at the kerb) but drop down a gear and she's perfect as well as when she's above 25mph.

She's been mostly used on short journeys but on the long journey she's performed beautifully. Pulls very well and stops the same too. Happy to sit at 70mph (or slightly over, ahem) on the motorway and at idle you'd think it was stop/start as the engine is so quiet.
